Pre-Hopsital 12-Lead EKG Technology

Helps Diagnose Heart Attacks Faster

Ogden Regional Medical Center's goal for heart attack victims is to save lives and heart muscles by saving time and diagnosing heart attacks faster in Weber County. That's why our hospital emergency department physicians and cardiologists have partnered with local medical response teams to streamline heart attack diagnosis and treatment processes.

Heart attack victims being transported via ambulance to Ogden Regional Medical Center will be diagnosed in transit by pre-hospital 12-lead EKG technology. This machine records electrical activity of the heart and shows a full view of the heart.

This valuable information is transmitted from the ambulance to emergency department physicians at Ogden Regional Medical Center to determine if a heart attack has occurred and where in the heart the damage is located. This allows our emergency staff and specialists to have a treatment plan ready and a medical team assembled before the patient even arrives.

A heart attack victim that was diagnosed in an ambulance can bypass the emergency department triage process and go straight to the cardiac catheterization lab, where a medical team stands prepared to insert a balloon to unblock a clogged artery. This streamlined process saves time and lives and helps to reduce long-term heart muscle damage.
